We left my house in a fabulous 1958 Rolls Royce Wraith at about 1pm and headed to Abbeville Estate. Abbeville is about 20 minutes from Auckland CBD and is very close to Auckland Airport. It is a old historic homestead that was recently renovated to be a Reception Venue and they transported a little old church from the 1860s onto the property too. There is also the original barn which is where the dancing happens.
I was really keen on the idea of having a venue where everything could happen at the same place and when we found Abbeville Estate, we all fell in love. It was hard finding places in Auckland with a vintage vibe that could cater for 100 people- most were more boutiquey and could only fit 60 or so.
We decided on the non-traditional but ever-growing trend of doing the photos first. It was strange to think about it initially but it just meant that we could do the photos without the stress of having the guests waiting for us.
We arrived at Abbeville and Caron our photographer had set up a ‘First Look’ for us. Matt was waiting on the veranda and I had to walk up behind him. It was nice to have the big reveal! We are not big on PDA so it was a little strange but also good to not have a church full of people staring at us when we first see eachother!
The girls were so cute standing there and watching it unfold… I think they all started crying!
Once that had all happened, we wandered off down the fabulous driveway to take all the bridal party photos. There were showers happening on and off and the ground was quite wet so it was a little tricky. Caron and her second shooter Dave did such a good job though!
I am so happy with how they have all turned out and don’t my bridemaids look absolutely stunning?! The groomsmen scrubbed up alright too 😉
Coming up in Part 3- The ceremony and cocktail hour!
