Antipodes Mineral Foundation

A couple of months ago, I was given some of the Antipodes Mineral Foundation to try. My past experience with skin sensitivities had meant that I have tried a couple of different mineral foundations (mainly powders) in a attempt to put something gentle on my skin. The ones I have tried left me unimpressed with overall finish and longevity, and I switched back to MAC Studio Fix powder (although still using one of the mineral ones on my eyes as this is the main area I get sensitive).

Since first trying the Antipodes Mineral Powder, I am now using it daily. I really like the light, velvety matte finish with a ever so slight shimmer so my skin glows! I am super impressed with how well it lasts and the shine stays away all day!

The Antipodes Mineral Foundations come in 4 shades and I use the palest of the range- the 01 Pale Pink. I would love to see them expand this to some lighter and darker shades. For me, the Pale Pink seems much more on the yellow side and can be a little too dark and warm on me if I use too much. I am on the paler side but by no means super white so I can’t imagine this foundation work for anyone with paler skin than me unfortunately.

Luckily, if I’m careful not to over-do it, then use the Antipodes Translucent Skin-Brightening Mineral Finishing Powder over the top to help neutralise some of the warmth, it ends up looking amazing!

Whilst the shade is not perfect, I’m still more than happy with the product. Since Antipodes is a science-based company which carefully formulates it’s products from pure natural ingredients, there’s some great active features to not only provide coverage but also hydrate and reduce blemished skin.

Featuring the revolutionary Vinanza Performance Plus, an antioxidant-packed extract from sauvignon blanc grape seeds and the skin of the superfruit kiwifruit. Vinanza helps to reduce facial flushing and earth minerals  help to balance out oil production.

The Antipodes Mineral Foundation and Transulcent Powder retails for NZ$46.90 on their website. You can also buy their natural hair Kabuki Brush for a flawless application. I’ve been using mine daily for about 6 weeks and I still think I have at least half left so it’s great value for money.

Dermatologically tested and approved for sensitive skin, vegan friends and with SPF 15, this mineral foundation ticks all the boxes!

My pre-foundation skincare routine consists of:

Antipodes Juliet Cleanser (review here)
Resurrect Facial Toner
Kiwi Seed Eyecream
Rejoice Daily Moisturizer (review here)

My foundation routine consists of:

Primer- mix of MAC Prep and Prime and Matte Gel (review here)
Liquid Foundation- MAC Matchmaster 1
Powder Foundation- Antipodes Mineral Foundation in 01 Pale Pink and then Antipodes Skin-Brightening Mineral Finishing Powder

So on a normal day, I do use a MAC liquid foundation underneath for extra coverage but it’s the Antipodes Powder that gives it a lovely finish. I tried it on the weekend on it’s own- no primer or liquid foundation- and it looked great! Nice and natural! I always try to have at least one weekend day makeup free to give my skin a break but I feel like with all the goodness in the Antipodes Powder, it not as much of a issue!

If you are prone to skin sensitivities or just want something more gentle on your skin without compromising on finish and longevity, then give this foundation a try!

  1. I might have to try the mineral finishing powder then! I don’t usually wear foundation, just a tinted moisturiser, so something light and natural sounds great 🙂 Am loving the Antipodes anti ageing serum and moisturiser at night too, thank you!
