I have recently rediscovered my love for separates and I can’t get enough of swing skirts! Most of the swing skirts in my wardrobe are more for day to day wear and there was a serious lack of skirts suited to evening looks.
There is something truly magical about a well made full circle skirt. Without the gathers, they create a slick and smooth line that to me just screams sophisticated elegance. With the right petticoat underneath like the one I’m wearing here (also from Powderpuff Boutique), circle skirts are a real show stopper.
What’s even better is when they are made out of a heavy satin like the Kelly Skirt. Granted, this does mean that you do really need to wear a petticoat underneath (otherwise it will hang straight down) but the weight of the material means that as you walk the skirt swishes and sashays gloriously.
And you all know by now that I NEED to do a twirl test… well the Kelly Skirt passes with flying colours, a strait 10 out of 10 thanks to the weight of the fabric and full circle shape.
The Kelly Skirt features a slim waistband, back zipper and gorgeous diamante button feature at the back. It has a few very subtle pleats on the sides at the front and back to help add fullness but it still has a very sleek line to it.
The Kelly Skirt comes in sizes 8 to 16 and I am wearing a size 10. I would say that the skirt fits true to the size chart, the size 10 fits snugly even though I am about 1″ over the size 10 measurements BUT wearing the Rago 2202 Longline Bra cinches in my waist.
The length is a little shorter than what I am usually used to but it’s feels a little extra sassy and adds more movement when walking. The 55cm Petticoats that Powderpuff Boutique stock are the perfect length and poof factor for underneath this skirt.
Paired with Kelly Skirt is the Black Evita Top which I also own in white. I LOVE this top, it’s so awesome how you can wear it in either the halterneck or cross style, it makes it so versatile!

A big thank you to Elizabeth J Photography for her talents at nailing these shots- The St James Theatre was VERY dark and she did a amazing job at finding the light and creating wonderful images despite the difficulties.
