I hadn’t really heard that much about Suavecito/Suavecita until Viva Las Vegas in April. They had a huge corner stall with lots of staff and I got given some samples to try as well as there being pomade in my Miss Viva Las Vegas prizepack. Just in case any of you are confused (I was at first!), Suavecito is their original men’s line and Suavecita is their women’s range.
I’ve gone from not really being a pomade kinda gal to really loving my Suavecita womens pomade. But I’ll cover that in another post, today I want to talk about a new addition to their line. Suavacita have branched out and now boast their own range of matte lipsticks!
I was sent a surprise package a few weeks ago and not knowing what it contained, I was super excited to open it and see that it was the Suavecita matte red lipstick in ‘Victory’.
The packaging for this lipstick is quite interesting. It definitely has a more rockabilly vibe to it and the barrel is spring loaded which is one of those weirdly satisfying actions to carry out. Instead of pulling the main part of the lipstick from the lid like you would normally, you push down and click which releases it and then you can pull.
Victory is a very matte lipstick- I would compare it to MAC’s Ruby Woo in consistency and find the colour to be quite similar to MAC Russian Red. It’s a fusion of two of my favourite lipsticks! Despite how matte it is, it still goes on really smoothly and lasts well throughout the day. I don’t have a huge tolerance for super duper dry lipsticks so halfway though the day I tend to apply a little dab of LUSH Honey Trap lip balm to hydrate my lips a little.
This is a great combination and I have no issues with the balm causing the lipstick to bleed like I’ve had with other balms or lip glosses- just be careful not to over-do it!
I’m going through a little bit of a love for the 1940s revival right now and feel like Victory is the perfect 40s shade. It’s a rich, intense red and I think will be versatile for a variety of skin tones.
Suavecita have released Victory on their website along with 6 other shades- my top picks would be ‘Frenchy’ and ‘Mirror Mirror’. For just US$13, these are a great price for such a high quality lipstick!
All in all, I love the shade of ‘Victory’ and the cute packaging. For me, I could have done with a TEENY TINY bit more moisture but that’s just my personal preference and it’s easily solved with LUSH Honey Trap.
Have you tried any of the other colours from Suavecita’s new lipstick line? Share your thoughts below!
