The Milan Dress by Heart of Haute

My first ever Heart of Haute order a few years ago, back when the company was called Heartbreaker, included the Monte Carlo Dress. I loved the style and since the Milan is her sleeveless sister, I’ve been wanting to try it ever since that first order.

The Milan Dress in Blush ticked all the boxes for me- a summery style, soft pink floral and matching belt. Plus, I knew the length was a little longer than the usual with Heart of Haute.

With it being spring here in New Zealand, AM Photography and I headed to the Botanical Gardens in South Auckland. Spring had only just sprung so not everything was in bloom but the sun was peeking out from behind the clouds and we couldn’t help but feel cheery amongst such beauty.

The Blush Print is so glorious, made even better by a custom hair piece to match by Soda Sweethearts. I sent Holly pictures of this dress and she nailed it! My wardrobe is full of floral prints but what I love about this dress is the fresh, summery feeling it gives me. The crisp white background and soft pink flowers with hints of green is just seriously gorgeous. I can totally imagine this dressed up with a fascinator for a day at the races.

Ella - August-127

The Milan Dress features a full swing skirt, side zip, pleating at the shoulders and a cross over bust. I’ve already mentioned the matching belt but I’d just like to note my appreciation for it having grommets as I have a major aversion to slide belts!

The dress is unlined but I find it holds the shape really well and it’s super comfortable. I’m wearing a size medium which seems to be my standard size in Heart of Haute (I’m 36″ in the bust and 27.5″ in the waist) and it fits pretty similar to the other dresses I’ve tried. It’s spot on in the bust and a little big in the waist but that’s ok because the belt cinches it in.
Sometimes I find in situations like this, the belt will be too big for my waist and I’ll have to punch extra holes through. Thankfully, that’s not the case with this dress!

As I had hoped, the length comes to well below the knee on me which is perfect! I’m wearing a Vivien of Holloway petticoat on the shortest option. Because this fabric is quite light, I would definitely recommend wearing a petticoat to create fullness.

The fabric of this dress is 100% cotton and comes in sizes XS to 2XL. The Blush print is unfortunately no longer available in the Milan style but you can get it in the Mercedes and Marseilles styles. If you love the Milan, there are some other beautiful prints including the Bouquet Print which I adore.

Another big thank you to AM Photography for the gorgeous photos, I can’t wait for the weather to really warm up… bring on summer!

  1. I notice that the V neck did not seem to be very deep. Were you able to wear a regular long line bra with it? I am top heavy and am always on the lookout for a dress that I can wear with my regular long line. You look like a beautiful breath of fresh spring, your surroundings were quite pretty too!
    Kisses!

  2. Just stunningly beautiful…you and the photos as well as the dress…I just bought my first HOH dress, and want more…I was advised that they run true to size, so that’s great too.
