Julie Mollo Purple Gingham

Just over a year ago I introduced you to Julie Mollo– a Brooklyn based designer and stylist who creates fun, bold and fabulous pieces!
I’m back with another one of her amazing Retroversible Circle Skirts and the matching Purple Gingham Bae Blouse for a delightfully sweet ensemble.

The Retroversible Circle Skirt won me over last year when I reviewed the Pink Lemonade version. However, give me a purple one like this, and it’s true love! On one side is a plain lavender purple, perfect for if you want to pair it with a patterned top or go for a more colour-block effect. On the other is a gorgeous gingham in the same colour!

The Retroversible Skirt works due to a two-way zipper which runs right down the length of the skirt. The waistband has a button closure which is a new change to the skirt design- the Pink Lemonade from last year had a tie which ended up being a little bulky so the button closure is much better.

My waist measurement (27″) is right inbetween the size small and medium- for the Pink Lemonade, I had the Medium but it was a little big so for this Purple Gingham, I went for a size Small. The fit is much better, it’s firm but not too tight and the great thing about button closures is that the button can always be moved slightly if needed.

To match the skirt, I’m wearing the Purple Gingham Bae Blouse with a contrasting pussy bow and trim around the sleeves. It’s made out of the same fabrics as the skirt (although isn’t reversible) and uses the same zip at the back meaning the whole top separates completely which is always a plus when trying to get it on over big hair!

I’m wearing the size Medium which fits but is a fraction too tight around my bust- I’m getting the slight pancake effect! I’m 36″ in the bust, but the size medium is for 34″-35″ so I would be better suited to the next size up.
Despite the fact that it’s so firm fitting, I still found it very comfortable and not restrictive at all.

Both these pieces are made out of lovely cotton which doesn’t have much stretch so I’d recommend always consulting the size chart before ordering. From my experience, you can trust that the Julie Mollo size chart is a good representation of the actual measurements of the garment, making ordering online a lot less stressful!

The Purple Gingham Bae Blouse is US$65 and comes in sizes S-XL. The Purple Gingham Retroversible Circle Skirt is US$150, also comes in sizes S-XL and both these items come in a red colourway too!

  1. That outfit is gorgpus and so suits you.I love red so would like to see that one too.Reversible is brilliant and especially for taking away on holiday and more outfits but less to carry.

  2. Amazing!! I love Julie Mollo’s designs! Your pink lemonade post was my first encounter and then I got to meet her in person at the New England Shakeup last fall, where I got to buy myself a pink lemonade skirt! I was so excited to see you were sharing these items today! They’re just darling and now I am dying to get this skirt and top! So cute!!!!

  3. I’m so jealous of your gorgeous diner photoshoots! You make that diner look even more adorable and glam that it already was. And I love the dress. Lilac was made for you.
