It might still be cold and wet here in the UK but signs of spring are making themselves known. The ground is beginning to sprout colourful flowers, the daffodils are bright and the blossoms are already blooming.
One of my favourite dresses from last summer was the beautiful Isabelle Dress in Toile de Jour by Zoe Vine. I absolutely adored not just the fresh and elegant print but also the fit and design of the dress itself.
I was so happy to see that the Isabelle would be making a come-back for this season in new fabulous prints and I’ve got not one, but two to share with you! First up, is this summery nautical print!
This dress instantly makes me think of my hometown of Auckland and all the amazing times spent out on the water. The red and white lighthouse reminds me of the one that sits just offshore of the iconic Rangitoto Island. I love a bit of a nautical them but sometimes a bold royal blue with red and white can be a little obvious so I really appreciate the softer tones in this dress.
The Isabelle Dress features a rounded neckline, short sleeves, button up front with a side zipper too, matching belt and pleated skirt. It is such a flattering, comfortable cut and the cotton fabric is a lovely quality.
I love dresses with buttons- I just think they are so stinking adorable! But I also love the practicality of it, a dress with a button front and zipper makes it so much easier to get on and off. Having to do a wiggly dance to get a dress on is something I will happily do in the name of vintage fashion but if it can be made easier, then I will be that much happier!
Be aware that this dress runs large, the same as the Toile De Jour version from last year. According to the size chart, my 37″ Bust should be a size 12/14 and 27″ waist a size 10. But I have no trouble wearing a size 10 here, the bust is not too tight at all and the waist is actually a little loose still! Thankfully it can be cinched in with the matching belt.
This is such a lovely casual summer dress, perfect for strolls along the beach or even something easy to pull on over your bathing suit! Add pops of red to really highlight the print or keep it neutral with a big white floppy sun hat and sandals.
Thank you to Nicole Engelmann Photography for these beautiful photos! You wouldn’t know it, but it was actually a rather chilly winters day – we managed to capture a bit of sunlight and fake a summer vibe while waiting for the real deal.
