There’s something so romantic about lace lingerie. I’ve always been a bit of a sucker for it but typically found it difficult to find styles that not only looked beautiful but were comfortable too. There’s nothing worse than a itchy lace that doesn’t have enough stretch and cuts into your curves!
House of Satin is a UK based lingerie company that has been going since 1948 so they really know their stuff when it comes to vintage reproduction lingerie and shapewear. They already had a extensive range of beautiful lace pieces in their Foundation Lace Collection and have JUST released the new Victory Collection. While the Foundation Lace Collection is lovely, my personal preference for lace lingerie is for the lace to be lined – and that’s exactly what The Victory Collection has to offer.
Having lined lace keeps everything looking a little bit more streamlined, especially when wearing multiple items at once or over the top of each other. The nude lining underneath the black lace of The Victory Collection creates that perfectly classic look that’s both demure and a little bit sexy.
The Victory Collection will be available in three pieces – The Victory Balconette Bra and Victory Suspender Full Briefs which are already available and The Victory Corsolette which will be released soon.
My body shape can tend to be a little bit problematic when it come to high waisted briefs as the size I require for my hips can be 2-3 sizes bigger than what I need for my waist. I find that if I try to size down, it can become very uncomfortable around my thighs after a extended period of time. While House of Satin doesn’t offer custom orders, I was lucky enough to be offered to have a pair sewn specifically for my size 16 hips and size 10 waist… and the fit is a dream!
These knickers are made from a sturdy control fabric to smooth and do have A LOT of stretch to them so they look tiny before slipping them on. I don’t think that a standard size 16 would have necessarily been too big, but it wouldn’t have been quite so snug a fit. Compare your measurements to the size chart and I think if you are in between sizes you can afford to size down.
The Victory Suspender Full Briefs comes in sizes 6-18 and is £39.50
Overall, I found them to be super comfortable with no signs of them digging in and I LOVE that the suspender straps are not only high quality metal ones but are also detachable.
As for the bra, I was very unsure with what size I would be as, as with most bras, you can really vary depending on the manufacturer. However, I tend to be around a 34E more often than not so that’s what I went with the fit was actually spot on! There’s no underwire so it’s wonderfully comfortable and doesn’t dig in too much on the sides. I really tightened the straps to get maximum lift and I adore the classic shape of the of the bra – it’s got that soft retro shape without being too pointy.
The Victory Balconette Bra comes in sizes 32A to 42F and is £40
To top the look off, I added this divine lace robe with fluttering sleeves from the Foundation Lace Collection
