Current Makeup Love List

It’s been well over a year since I last did a post like this and since I’m still a month or two away from having time to create a full makeup tutorial, I figured I would do this post in the meantime.

I’m a creature of habit when it comes to my makeup –  I really do not change products frequently and basically use the same stuff every day. The most I’ll do differently is my lipstick and sometimes my eyeshadow. But I’m a believer in sticking with something if it’s working for you and also buying from cheaper brands when possible!

If you’d like to also read about my skincare routine, you can catch up on the recent post here.

Face

I always moisturise first before applying L’Oréal Infalliable Matte Primer with my fingertips. Once that has had a couple of minutes to soak in, I then use a beauty blender sponge to apply the L’Oréal Infalliable Matte Liquid in 10. For concealer around my eyes, I use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 and then set my whole face with L’Oréal Infalliable Matte Powder in Warm Vanilla.

For a light contour on my cheekbones, I love Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer with a touch of Besame Cosmetic Rose Delicate Rouge on the apples of my cheeks. For a highlight on my cheekbone, Make Up Forever ProLight Fusion in Golden Pink is my current favourite although it was recently cracked on a flight so I’ll be having to replace it and might try something new.

Eyes

I recently bought The Balm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow Palette and absolutely love it! I generally use Matt Lin on my lids with Matt Lopez and Matt Reed in the crease and along my lower lashline. For eyeliner, I’ve been using the same one for years and that’s Rimmel Glam Eyes– can’t see myself switching to something else anytime soon. My favourite mascara is Benefit Roller Lash which I do on the top and bottom.

I really like to line my waterline and actually use two different colours- Firstly I use Make Up Forever Aqua XL Eye Pencil in Matte White as it’s waterproof and stays on really well and then I go over the top with the Long Lasting Kohl Pencil in Infinite Beige by Sephora. The Sephora one isn’t as long lasting by itself, hence why I use the Make Up Forever as a base.

Finally, I like to highlight the inner corner of my eyes and The Balm Cosmetic Batter Up Eyeshadow Stick in Moon Shot is a lovely, high density colour that has a bit more POP than a powder.

I don’t wear false lashes all the time, but when I do I love the Ardell Natural looking ones and buy this multipack. And of course Duo Glue to seal the deal!

Brows

I recently did a eyebrow tutorial on YouTube detailing everything I used and my method but I’ll share it on here too. In that video I used a powder in the Collection Contour Palette to fill in my brows but since filming that, I’ve realised that the Matt Lopez colour in my Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette is actually perfect too and that means I only have to carry one palette when I’m travelling. So I start by filling them in with that, then further fill in any places that need it with the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil in 3. If I want slightly darker, browner brows then I will then use Benefit 3D Brow Tones before the final step of Benefit Ready, Set, BROW! which is just a clear brow gel. Most of the time, I skip the 3D Brow Tones and only use the Ready, Set Brow.

Sometimes I will also then use some concealer to clean up and further highlight the underside of my brows before also highlighting with Pro Light Fusion.

Lips

The final touch to a pinup makeup look- lipstick! I have a vast array of lipsticks, most of them in the red spectrum. Currently I’ve been LOVING Loyal by The Balm Cosmetics but other firm favourites include Besame Red Velvet and Victory Red along with L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Matte Lipstick in 347 Haute Rouge. I always use a lipliner before applying a traditional lipstick and my go-to’s are either Sephora Lip Liner To Go in Classic Red or Besame Cerise and Red Masterliner Pencil.

So there you have it! This is what I use for a full face of makeup and of course sometimes skip some steps if I am not wanting to put as much effort in. Do take a look through my Makeup Section here on the blog as I’ve done tons of reviews of products including a lot that have been mentioned here.

  1. I’ve never tried L’Oreal Infallible products. I’ll have to give them a try sometime. I assume you like them better than the Mac Studiofix you used to wear? The price definitely is better:-).

  2. Don’t toss your cracked makeup- you can fix it! There are a million videos. It involves crushing up the makeup more thoroughly, pouring on isopropyl alcohol, pressing it down and letting it dry.
(It seems there are now new videos that show you how to do it without alcohol; that’s not how I learned to do it, so I can’t vouch for those methods, but it’s up to you!)

This is just one of hundreds, but it is pretty close to how I learned to do it:
