Revival Retro Love List | SEPTEMBER

After a little hiatus over the summer, my Revival Retro Love List is back and just in time for probably my favourite season… AUTUMN!

For those of you that don’t know, Revival Retro is a wonderful brick and mortar store (and also online!) in London city that pride themselves on high quality vintage reproduction clothing, shoes and accessories, alongside top notch customer service. This season they have a fabulous collection of coats and jackets that aim to not only look good, but also provide that essential warmth needed for the looming winter.

Now, as a predominantly swing dress wearer, I’m not usually one to pick out a shorter length jacket like this Green Twill beauty- a modern take on 1947 Dior. But, one of the best things about visiting Revival Retro is trying on things that might be a little out of your usual comfort zone.

The first thing that made me fall in love with this jacket was the incredibly softness to the fabric… it reminds me of the comfort of cosy pyjamas! I fell in love with it even more once I put it on as the fit was just perfect! It nips in at the waist and has a beautiful peplum detail at the lower back. Wear it over a pencil skirt or dress for a effortlessly 1940s chic look and add some accessories to jazz it up. I picked out a beret which is part of the Altelier Millinery available at Revival Retro and also a beautiful vintage inspired brooch for a little sparkle!

You may or may not have seen, but recently I’ve had a design collaboration be released with Voodoo Vixen! When I was thinking about what sort of coat I’d like to design and own, I wanted something with a bit more of a 1940s utilitarian vibe to it and in a grey since there’s a serious lack of grey coats in the vintage reproduction world. I figured that this shade would be a versatile alternative to always reaching for black.

Revival Retro have the coat in store which is rather exciting – in fact when I was there, a lady actually bought one! This coat has a high collar with faux fur to really keep your neck and chest cosy. The fur on both the collar and sleeves are removable if desired and also features puffy 1940s shoulders.

This coat is 60% wool but still on the lighter side so perfect for those inbetween seasons or simply layer up a little more underneath. I wear by the Ice Skater Cardigans which are available at Revival Retro but selling quickly. These are the warmest, cosiest cardigans you’ll ever own and will last you through multiple seasons.

This next jacket is rather exciting as it’s designed and produced by Revival Retro themselves!

Designed with curvy women in mind, weather they are a 8 or 18, this jacket has room for bust and hips while still cinching in at the waist. Made from a toasty wool mix, this jacket is perfect for when you are wanting to dress up a outfit. As much as I love the cosy feeling of a cardigan, they do tend to make a outfit appear more casual.

A smart and simple button down design, this is perfect for not just the hardcore vintage lover- even someone with more modern tastes who likes to dabble in the vintage aesthetic could make this work for them. To add a little colour and detail to this outfit I added one of the beautiful silk scarves underneath the collar which is also the perfect solution if you need a little more warmth.

Revival Retro will soon be releasing matching skirts which I am rather excited for as they are able to complete custom sizing – something I’m eternally grateful for as a pear shape!

My final pick from the coats at Revival Retro is this stunning Old Hollywood Glamour Coat. I love big swing coats and especially green so this is kind of the coat of my dreams. It’s hard not to feel glamourous when wearing this and I really enjoyed adding pops of red to the outfit.

This coat is 100% wool so really perfect for the winter months and the detailing on the collar and sleeves are just so chic and sophisticated! I also absolutely ADORE the length – it’s so nice having a slightly longer hemline to really help keep you toasty. If you are worried about the more open neckline, simply add a glamourous faux fur collar or tuck a scarf underneath for those really brisk winter days.

Honestly, there’s not much else I can say about this coat except that it’s pretty much PERFECT.

So those are my favourites from the current Revival Retro offerings. There’s still several coats instore and on the website that haven’t been featured here so do take a look here. And if you have the opportunity to visit the shop, then I highly recommend the experience. Fitzrovia is surrounded by great places for lunch as well as a short walk to Oxford Street so make a little day of it!

  1. I love perusing through this store online but it simply astounds me how expensive everything is! There was a lovely and bright, but simple summer dress that was all the rage this past season but it retailed for over $200.00 US! How do those who aren’t independently wealthy get to buy these things? I wish there were more affordable items available for people who enjoy looking good but also have families to feed and bills to pay. 🙁

    • Well if you are looking from the US, then you are having to deal with the exchange rate. Plus stores like this will typically have a slightly higher price then the actual retailer in order to make a profit.

    • I think buying in a different currency will always make things potentially seem more expensive – I hardly ever buy from the USA as with the rate, shipping and customs charges it’s just better to shop local! Plus there’s a lot of cheaper brands out there, I really appreciate that everything Revival stocks has been handpicked for its quality and fit ❤️

  2. So pretty again!I love combination of green and red,it’s just WOW!
I was wondering,as it is winter soon, have you problems with pantyhose,as mine stick on skirts/dresses and the hem just climping up.It’s so frustrating! No matter if it is pencil or swing- dress,it makes that anyway. Have you solution for that?

  3. I ran over to Voodoo Vixen to look for your collab and I love the tartan skirt but so so sad they don’t seem to come in plus! Happy for your success though!
