One of the best things about being a part of the vintage and pinup niche, is meeting new people – especially all the talented and creative artists out there!
I was introduced to wonderful Emily from Dupenny shortly after my arrival to the UK. She sent me a care package of her wares including a mug and cushion that I use daily, and a beautiful framed print she’d done of me. For those of you who haven’t heard of Dupenny before and don’t know what Emily does, she’s a artist who has created a range of kitchy vintage inspired prints that are offered as wallpapers, prints, gifts and now… SKIRTS!
This is pretty darn exciting especially for all you novelty print lovers out there. In previous blog posts, I’ve not been shy about expressing my limited love for novelty prints, I really do prefer them to be on the minimal side of novelty rather than completely in your face. That’s what I love about Emily’s designs – they are fun and quirky but have a sophistication to them. While I picked the black and white, there is also a colour version which still boasts the same vibe.
I loved the Vintage Dress print for my skirt but you can choose from any of the Wallpaper designs- my other favourites are the Aloha! Print, Pinup Print and English Garden Print. All designs are available in both black & white or colour.
Not only can you choose the print design, but you can also decide between a circle skirt like mine, or a gathered one. Both designs feature a back zip with button closure as well as hidden pockets! And a little feature I’d like to mention about the pockets is that they are actually made with a different, more silky fabric which means that you don’t have that awkward bulk that can sometimes be a problem with pockets and circle skirts- genius!
The black and white design has such a class vibe and I wanted to add a little pop of subtle colour through my choice of top and accessories. I still wanted a subtle and sophisticated vibe but one could easily go more playful by adding a bright summer top instead.
Dupenny offers these skirts from size 6-18 BUT if you need a size outside of these measurements then don’t hesitate to get in touch as each item is made to order and all sizes can be accommodated for.
Emily has very kindly created a exclusive discount code for my readers – use the code ‘MISSVV’ upon checkout for a cheeky 20% off!
A big thank you to David Fisk Photography for these photos in Richmond! It was a very dreary and gloomy morning but by the afternoon the sun had come out and felt like summer… even if the humidity was off the charts!
